What are the screen resolutions that Meta (i.e. MiniMorph) can support?

    This is more of a question about what resolutions a SW renderer can support running on MiniMorph at that boards frequency.

    800×600 16 bit colour

    We have successfully displayed at 1080p resolution, however this takes up all the memory bandwidth. As soon as the SoC starts accessing memory for other uses, there is corruption and stutter on the display.

    The limitation is memory access speed, so there is no definitive answer as to ‘maximum’ resolution, because it depends on what else is using memory. James Hogan does have some figures for calculating ‘free’ memory bandwidth, but in practise we have found it best to limit the display to 800×600 with 16 bit colour.

    Check your monitor’s supported modes using :

    cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/modes
