    step1: i download the “Mips_linux_toolchain_bin-1.1.tar.bz2” ,and cp the file to directory “/opt”

    step2: cd /opt

             tar vfxj Mips_linux_toolchain_bin-1.1.tar.bz2

        export PATH=/opt/mips_linux_toolchain/bin:$PATH

    after do those steps,then i exec the mips-linux-gnu-gcc in the shell, but it hint the error infomation as follow “mips-linux-gnu-gcc: cannot execute binary file”?can you tell me the reason ? thanks!

    my suse linux ver:

    linux-thomas:/opt/mips_linux_toolchain/bin # cat /proc/version
    Linux version (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.1.0 (SUSE Linux)) #1 Mon Jul 3 18:25:39 UTC 2006
    linux-thomas:/opt/mips_linux_toolchain/bin # uname -a
    Linux linux-thomas #1 Mon Jul 3 18:25:39 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

    it runs at virtual machine

    The file has been compiled for 64 bit an your system is 32 bit.
    $ file mips-linux-gnu-gcc
    mips-linux-gnu-gcc: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.18, not stripped

    I suggest you follow the instructions to compile from source.
